"You create your own reality."
Since my first personal growth training over 30 years ago, I've been told that over and over. I've believed it, resisted it, rejected it, refused to believe it, been angered by it and even at times a little terrorized by it. My explorations in learning to powerfully and intentionally create my own reality have included everything from est to HAI, nlp to other belief work in several modalities including Theta Healing, Insight Training Seminars to much less publicized modalities that explored spirit and energy, hypnotherapy, psychological therapy and spiritual counseling. Some worked not at all. A few worked enough for me to stay with them and keep exploring. Some gave me a great feeling for a short time and then just fizzled out. Some I believed were on target but just could not seem to make them work consistently. Recently, I've found something that explains why I would get results one time and not another, but more about that later.
Since the advent of The Secret we hear the "you create
your own reality" message over and over.
The abundance bullhorn of The Secret and it's many siblings has blasted
us with this idea. Just see it, feel it,
and it will be yours. The Abraham Tapes
tell us to beware the law of attraction.
What we feel we get. To many of
us, that has not been happy news, because try as we might, those negative
feelings just seemed to roar in, slip in, sneak in or be delivered by others at
the most unexpected times. I've worked
with many folks who have tried vision boards, feeling it, feelingization,
changing their feelings, affirmations, and many other tools without success,
with inconsistent success or with such small success that it was not worthy of
announcement.
There's been a never ending flow of products offering how
to make the secret work, finding the secret beyond the secret, and adding to
what is done in the secret. Many
modalities offer to and do remove the beliefs that block abundance. I've found this to be "sometimey"
at best. Removing beliefs about
abundance only works some of the time for some people, but not for
everyone. I personally have pulled
hundreds of beliefs with little or no effect. A few times I've pulled beliefs
and had a huge change. There were times when it lasted and then there were times that the change was just for a short while.
But, I couldn't figure out why the beliefs I'd pulled or the situation I
cleared seemed to return.
Sometimes the work I did with others had an effect and I saw major transformations or healings, sometimes it
didn't. Again, I wondered why. I've even created classes on
abundance because I could not get the ones I took from other folks to
work. (As a side note, the last one,
Creating Results, did just that with much more success than the others. I'll tell you later why I think that was.)
How could I possibly have created this reality?
It's entirely possible you may look around you and say to
yourself, "How could I possibly have created this reality?" Or to look around at the world and say,
"How could we really be creating a reality so full of pain, killing,
trauma, war, and disease."
"How can I keep my feelings positive and still watch the evening
news?" Some people I know have
stopped watching the evening news in an attempt to refrain from reacting to the
negativity presented to us with such drama.
There are a multitude of questions about this idea of
creating our own reality. When you think
about it, on one hand it seems plausible and on the other we don't really want
to go there. I've had these questions too, and until the last month never really had an answer. Taking responsibility for
creating the world around us seems like an impossible burden to assume. For many the problem is solved by saying
"God did it and he has his reasons."
Or, "he did it to punish us or we are paying for our sins" or
some such. And, if God did it, there's
nothing I can do to change it. We are
pawns on some vast chessboard in the sky and have no control what-so-ever over
this life of ours. It's pre-ordained,
pre-determined, and pre-destined.
Maybe it just depends on how good or bad we are. If we just get it right, just be good and
kind and well . . . perfect, then maybe God will give us what we want. Oh, and of course, pray and go to church and
never curse even when we hit our thumb with the hammer. Trying to walk the tightrope of all the rules
of good and bad, sinner versus saint, good little girl or boy versus bad little
girl or boy is enough to keep us on the negative side of the balance sheet for
some time. Who made up all those good
and bad rules anyway?
That's the extreme version. Where do you fall? Somewhere in between? Have you ever done an affirmation? Or written out your intention for what you
wanted in your life, or even a list of goals?
Have you put a photo of something you really really wanted up so you could
look at it every day. For me, I've done
all of those and sometimes they worked and sometimes they didn't. But, they worked often enough for me to keep
at it. For me to know there was
something to it if only I could figure out the whole picture.
The Missing Piece of the Puzzle
I've found another piece of puzzle. One that brings the whole picture of how I
work into much clearer focus. At last,
an answer that works and even makes some kind of sense. I've been on a 30 plus year journey looking
for how to have a happier, more self-loving, self-accepting, less critical,
more abundant and more joyful life. I'd come to believe that maybe there were
no answers. Now, I'm beginning to understand there are answers and most of them
are here within me in each moment. So,
what is this ANSWER, this puzzle piece that ties so much together that the
whole puzzle begins to make sense?
And the Answer is ….. Trauma. Past trauma. I'll tell you a bit about how it works, but first let me tell you where I found this answer.

Therapy in Free Teleclass (see below).
What is it that causes so much havoc in the beautiful,
loving, happy, abundant lives we so desire to create in our worlds. The simple one word answer is trauma. Thinking back through our lives, we can
pinpoint traumas that occurred at critical points in our lives. Often we can even see a pattern of traumas. And then there were the traumas that were so
horrific that we've blocked the memory.
The ones we refuse to take credit for because we know we would never
have created something like that. By the
way, we learned how to clear abuse in the workshop without ever talking about
it specifically so it doesn't matter if you remember it or not, you just never
need to go there again. But, I
digress.
There are modalities like EFT that clear trauma and work
effectively. You just need to keep doing
them over and over again. Other
modalities work with and do clear trauma in our present lives. But what if the trauma really started
earlier?
That's where Grant McFetridge's work comes in. It would take way too long to tell you all
about Grant's work but the bottom line of his theory is that most trauma begins
before we are born, in either the conception or the birth process itself, or
through inherited DNA from our ancestors.
If you want to know more click this link. Grant, too is teaching his work – in a 2-year
intern course and one of his "healings" takes hours and hours.
(Simon's Level 1 and 2 courses only takes 3 days, and an average session is
between 1 and 2 hours.)
What is Reference Point Therapy?
So it is with the past traumas that are the specs
creating the time bombs of trauma patterns we are born with. Pre-birth traumas become the faulty reference
points that are the destructive negative paint brushes that stubbornly create
our current realities regardless of our attempts at change. When you clear traumas that happened
pre-birth (whether from the birth process or from ancestral inheritance), you
also clear the trauma present on experiences in this life. Which is why you never have to talk about
abuse to let the trauma be released. The
instigating trauma was much, much earlier, much smaller and much easier to
clear. Clearing that trauma almost
always significantly impacts all of the later traumas. Releasing that past trauma also releases all
the beliefs that were associated with it. The only catch is when we are truly getting
something out of the experience (like attention, or support or sympathy) and
want to hold onto it.
Bees and Reference Point Therapy.
In the workshop Simon gives the example of anaphylactic
shock that occurs from a bee sting. We
see and recognize the trauma of the bee sting that causes the shock, and
attempt to work on that to clear the trauma.
But, in fact, it was an earlier and much less traumatic bee sting that
created the faulty reference point and was the point of origin for the later
event of anaphylactic shock. The earlier episode is like the root of the weed
in our consciousness. You can chop down
the week of the most recent event, and the weed will re-grow unless you pull it
out by the roots. That's what Reference
Point Therapy does, clear the trauma from it's earliest reference point.

Call me to ask questions and schedule a session or learn more in my
upcoming classes -- Pasadena and West LA in-person Synergy Classes (dates
below), and on the free teleclass that is coming up on August 18 at 6
p.m. (Pacific.) The teleclass will
include more information about reference point therapy, a chance to hear what
others who've done the classes feel about it, and to ask questions of Simon and
Evette Rose. One lucky person will be
chosen to do a demonstration if you register ahead of time and respond to some
email questions.
In-Person Synergy Classes. We will be following the same format of
releasing traumas for the whole group as we work with situations that each of
you bring to class. This has proved very
powerful and it is this synergy that I feel is one reason for the powerful
results that were created in my Creating Results Teleclass. (Also, in most of the clearings I was working
with the earliest point of origin – without using exactly those words.) I will also take some time to answer
questions about the Reference Point Therapy process and how you can learn to do
it for yourself.
