    So, how do I know what belief I have?

    That's what some of my clients ask me.  And for that matter, how do I know what belief is blocking me?  And how do I know it's been changed with ThetaHealing?

    Theta Healing uses energy testing (also known as muscle testing or kinesiology) to determine just what is so and not so with the subconscious.  You can use muscle or energy testing to ask yes/no questions.  And in order to do that you first determine what you register as yes and no.

    Try this out.  Using your left hand, put your ring finger and your thumb together and hold them together.  Then take the index finger of your right hand and put it through that circle.  Try to open the circle while resisting.  Say "Yes" and test the circle to see if it's still strong.  Say "no" and see what results you get.  If you are testing like most of the population, the circle should be weaker or break open entirely when you test "no".  If it stays the same for both yes and no, then you may need to be more hydrated.  So drink an 8 ounce glass of water and try it again. 

    Another way to do muscle testing that I liked the best when I first came to Theta is the standing method.  It works best with the Earth's gravitational pull and if you are hydrated.  Our whole body seems to work better when we are hydrated.  Drink some more water.  Stand facing north and say "Yes."  See which way your body is pulled.  Probably it will be pulled slightly forward.  Then, say "no" and see what happens.  Probably you will lean slightly backwards. 

    Play with this with your name.  Say my name is (Suzanne/your name).  See if your fingers stay strong or you lean forward.  Now say my name is (George or Slugo the dog or some name that is not your name).  See what happens.  Do you lean backward. 

    Once you get this going so that you know what's what so to speak, you can test out other beliefs.  Here's a couple just to get started.

    I love myself. 
    I have to work hard to get ahead.

    Loving ourselves is where is all begins as far as I'm concerned. And I've worked on that one for years.  I now test yes, most of the time, and some of the time if I'm being particularly down on myself I get a no.  If I'm not loving myself, then I'm not really loving anyone or anything else.  That's when I find a Theta buddy to work with or begin working on myself to see what needs to be changed inside me to get that one back to a "Yes." 

    "Working hard" is one of the things I learned as I grew up.  "You have to work hard to get ahead."  I remember the Southwest Virginia twang with which that statement was spoken to me over and over.  When I first tested it, I got a "Yes."  Did some Theta work with another practitioner and now I get a "no."  I just checked it too.  (In another post, I'll talk about the 4 levels of beliefs and that one often hits on all 4.)

    That's how you know that a belief is gone.  You test before the Theta work and afterwords.  When you take a ThetaHealing class, you will learn how to change beliefs for yourself.  Another way to change beliefs that are not serving you is to work with a ThetaHealing Practitioner.  Theta sessions can be done over the phone or in person.

    How can my fingers be symbolic of my entire health and well being?

    Good question Gail. It's not just your fingers, but using your body to tell you about your body and your subconscious. I first began to use muscle testing in 1982 to locate and clear beliefs that didn't serve my clients. At that time I used arm muscle testing. These days most of us are familiar with the muscle testing where someone focuses positive thoughts and comments on a person and tests the outstretched arm. With the positive comments the arm is strong when pushed downward. Reversing the process and targeting of a barage of negative comments, the arm goes weak. It's the same principle.

    Chiropractors use it all the time for physical issues. And it's also effective with mental and emotional issues as well.

    Really you are asking your body about your body, and your subconscious about what it thinks and believes.

    Is muscle testing something that I would need to remember for myself or is it more automatic like blinking and breathing?

    Muscle testing is a tool you can use either for yourself or in interaction with someone who might be working with you. For example, in a telephone Theta session, I might ask you to test "I have to work hard to get ahead." And if you tested strong or "yes" to that, then I'd ask you if you'd like to change that particular belief.

    With your permission, I would use Theta to change it. I'd ask you to check it again and see if your answer was still "yes" or if it had changed to a "no" (was weak). If it had changed to a "no", I would know that we had successfully changed that belief.

    This is really a simplistic example. If I was really working with you, I'd probably ask you a lot of other questions to go with it, determine what level or levels your subconscious held the belief and then ask you if you wanted to change it. Once I had your permission, then I'd make the change and we'd muscle test all the different things we'd tested earlier to make sure they had changed.


    Oh, I see. So, even if my perception of muscle testing may be weak initially, you can work with me to uncover or unlock (so to speak) my beliefs.

    That's right.

    A big factor with muscle testing is how hydrated you are too. That can affect how you test. And, that's why you make sure you know what's Yes and what's no before you start.

    About muscle testing, I've had the experience of being absolutely certain that I was going to test one way--and testing the exact opposite, which tells me that it bypasses my conscious mind and gets right to the source. Strange, but it seems to work.
